Doce

Living where we do, fire season has always been a part of my life. But this year was the first year I really was affected by it directly. Of course in the past I was sad for those that lost their homes and for the land that was decimated. Doce is was very close to us, we were on notice that we could have to evacuate, though thankfully never had to. It was scary and really made me think of what is important. I am so grateful we have an emergency plan and had one before the fire. This really helped calm my nerves. I don't remember where I got the idea from, though I can assure you it wasn't my own idea. But we had/have differetn levels of what we will grab, depending on the amount of time we have to get out. Just for example:

Level one: just ourselves and Raph. bare minimum. Keys, wallets if they are right there.

Level two: all of level one plus this binder I keep in a fire proof box. It has all of our important documents, SS cards, birth certificates, ect along with some medical history and copies of our insurance cards just in case. I also keep CD/SD card copies of all my pictures in here along with all the print out of pictures I have that aren't in albums.

Level three: The previous two levels plus anything else we may deem important. This would really depend on time but for me the first things I'd go for would be photo albums, the keepsakes from our wedding and bootsy's birth and my camera.

Anyways I think it's a good idea for everyone to have some kind of evacuation plan, regardless of where you live. You never know when a natural disaster of even just a disaster within your own home may strike. Just some food for thought. Of course Pinterest has some good pins for things like this, my plan isn't perfect and I'm always looking at ways to make it better :)

These are just from the first few days of the fire. Thankfully the brave men and women that fight these were able to get it under control pretty quick.
